9 Bombs in Jau, a Border City En Route to Yida Refugee Camp

On February 14, 2013 at 6:00pm a Sudan Air Force Antonov plane dropped 9 bombs in Jau. The South Sudan border town of Jau marks the only route for fleeing civilians from South Kordofan to reach the Yida refugee camp in South Sudan. Tensions have been rising over the past few months along border states of Sudan and South Sudan as troops increase their numbers on each side.

Since May 24th, Yida refugee camp officials report 133 percent increase in daily arrivals: May 24th = 705 refugees; May 25th = 633 refugees; May 27th = 1012 refugees; May 28th = 1105 refugees; May 29th = 1065 refugees; May 30th = 891 refugees; May 31st = 582 refugees.
